Congratulations to our Alumni at the School of Law on their successful Call to the Nigerian Bar

Congratulations are in order for the new wigs in the Nigerian Bar from Kampala International University School of Law (KIU-SOL)!

Within the week, seven of our former students at KIU-SOL namely: John Ayobami Akinwumi Esq., Akachim Mattins Chizi-Boms Esq, Chikwem Kosisochukwu Miriam Esq., Tochukwu Gloria Ononye Esq., Mohammad Ahmed Awal Esq., Bala Ahmed Nurrudden Esq., Mubarak Abdulhadi, Esq., were all called to the Nigerian Bar as Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; a giant stride we do not take for granted here at KIU.

In his own words, the Dean School of Law KIU; Dr. Valentine Tebi Mbeli took to his Facebook page to congratulate these students for their outstanding performances at the Nigerian Law School, which led to their call to the Bar, as well as for making the School of Law and KIU proud as an institution of higher learning.

Message of Congratulations to my former Students at KIU on their enrollment as Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria

“It is with a great sense of fulfilment and ecstasy that I celebrate with the undermentioned persons upon their successful completion of the Bar Course leading to enrollment as Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in their various capacities. I am proud to mention that these young men and women all obtained their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the prestigious School of Law, Kampala International University under my humble Deanship.” Dr. Mbeli stated categorically.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor KIU; Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo also congratulated the new wigs as he rightly said "Congratulations the School of law, congratulations to our former students who have excelled, congratulations Dean and staff of the school of law. You all make us proud. Keep the KIU your Alma mater in High esteem always. Bravo!" M. Mpezamihigo, the Vice-Chancellor Kampala International University.

About the School of Law

The School of Law (SOL) at Kampala International University (KIU) is founded on the vision of providing a conducive teaching and learning environment tailored at producing excellent graduates capable of meeting the needs of the legal job market.

The School offers a contemporary undergraduate and graduate curriculum that is periodically updated in line with changes and mutations in the legal and regulatory environments. While the basic references are in sync with the legal system of the host country; Uganda, the course content is designed to suit the needs of the Common Law system at large.

Apart from teaching, we offer complementary opportunities for our students to gain practical and valuable legal experience in a broad range of programmes and activities; moot court sessions, law clinics, and clerkships among others. Our School of Law is very active in international moot competitions; the highly-rated performance of our students is attributed to the quality of teaching credited to our team of dedicated and committed staff, and the conducive learning environment at KIU.

The School is endowed with a collection of qualified, dedicated and experienced lecturers whose individual and collective efforts have contributed significantly in enabling the school to deliver on its core mandate to the students.

Our Alumni have always stood out

Reports show that our graduates have enrolled for the bar course in their respective countries with ease where they have also performed credibly well. The achievements of our alumni have been instrumental in establishing the outstanding reputation our Law School enjoys nationally, regionally and internationally.

The results of these efforts have once more been radiated through the brilliant performance of the undermentioned persons at the Nigerian Law School as they prepare to join their predecessors now serving in different vocations of the legal profession; legal practitioners (the Bar); judicial officers (the Bench); state attorneys, law instructors, corporate and tax lawyers, legal advisors and consultants in various countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria, Burundi, South Sudan to name but a few.

Having regard to the quality of training you received at Kampala International University (KIU), I have no reservation in your ability to use your knowledge of the law as an instrument for improving your personal and family well-being as well as for the development of society.
